Tergy Sagava is a Copenhagen-based company doing the hero work - transforming organic waste into carbon-negative marine biofuels and sustainable energy for the maritime shipping industry.

Boardway: What was your main challenge in searching for advisory board members?

Tergy Sagava CEO: Before Boardway, we reached out to advisors exclusively through our own network.

Boardway: Why was a structured, data-driven search important to you?

Tergy Sagava CEO: We wanted to build a strong advisory board and were aware that we were limited by our own network. Searching beyond it allowed us to compare external candidates with those we already knew, and to gain new perspectives from candidates with different backgrounds.
We were curious to see what Boardway’s data-driven platform could deliver.

Boardway: How did Boardway’s platform help you identify the right competencies and skill gaps for your advisory board?

Tergy Sagava CEO: We adapted the skill gap fields to reflect the company’s needs. We started by analysing the founder and management team, and then focused on complementing those capabilities by building the advisory board. The process worked well.

Boardway: Compared to traditional recruitment or personal networks, how did Boardway support your decision-making — for example in terms of speed, quality, or transparency?

Tergy Sagava CEO: We don’t have extensive experience with other platforms for recruiting board members, but we were very impressed by the quality of the matches presented on Boardway — both for the engineering and finance profiles — as well as the speed at which relevant candidates were surfaced.
