CANDIDATE OF THE WEEK: KIRSTEN BROSBOL
Meet this week’s top Boardway candidate, Kirsten Brosbol - an experienced board chair, founder, CEO, former Minister for the Environment, and long-term Danish Parliamentarian.Kirsten’s work focuses on driving systemic progress within sustainability, climate action, governance and executing effective policies to spearhead organizations that are shaping the future.
She currently serves as Chair of the Board of the Danish Climate-Forest Foundation, an independent, state-backed foundation established to support Denmark’s climate goals through afforestation and land-use transformation.
In this role, she oversees governance, capital stewardship and impact delivery within a highly visible and regulated mandate.She is also Founder and CEO of 2030beyond, a non-profit do-tank accelerating implementation of the UN Sustainable Development Goals by convening policymakers, institutions and cross-sector leaders around systemic change.
Alongside this, Kirsten holds board roles within foundations and think tanks focused on wellbeing economy, biodiversity, climate resilience and democratic capacity, including WELA - Wellbeing Economy Lab and Fonden Arkaia. She has previously served as Chair of Dansk Miljøteknologi, the industry association for Denmark’s environmental technology sector.Kirsten brings extensive public governance experience from her time as Minister of the Environment and as a long-serving Member of The Danish Parliament, where she worked across climate, energy, foreign affairs and science policy.
Internationally, she contributed as a Commissioner to The Lancet COVID-19 Commission and was selected as an 𝗢𝗯𝗮𝗺𝗮 𝗦𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗹𝗮𝗿 at Columbia University, recognizing her leadership at the intersection of policy, sustainability and global impact.
